If it were not for Charles IV and his ban from 1364 regarding the sale of meat in huts on the square, Masné krámy would never have been established in České Budějovice. And that would be a shame. In the middle of the 16th century, they acquired a Renaissance appearance, which has been largely preserved to this day. The reconstruction of the building into a restaurant took place in 1953 according to the project of J. Frida. Since then, Masné krámy and Budvar have belonged to each other. Due to the consequences of the great flood in 2002, the restaurant was closed and it took 5 long years for Masné krámy to resume its tradition. A tradition based on hospitality and excellent Budvar draft beer. The Masné krámy restaurant has always been associated with excellent beer produced by the Budweiser Budvar brewery. That is why special attention has been paid to the beer economy. The basis of the beer management are 4 beer tanks, each with a capacity of 10 hectolitres. The beer tanks are actively cooled and have a double casing. They are made of stainless steel with a classic copper design on the surface, which is in line with the traditional concept of the entire interior. In addition, the beer tanks are illuminated and located behind a glass window in the background of the taproom. Guests can see them directly from the main nave of the restaurant.
