The main mission of the zoo in Ústí nad Labem is, as with other zoos, the rescue of rare and endangered animal species. It actively participates in many international conservation programs and manages to breed many species of highly endangered animals. You can also see these rare species, such as the Bornean orangutan, the Manchurian leopard, the paradise antler, the blunt-nosed rhinoceros, the white-tailed deer and the Somali donkey.
Since the end of 2008, visitors to the zoo have been served by the Lumpepark Nature Trail, which brings the most interesting corners of the original area closer. Unique stands were installed in the ten most interesting places of the original area, which were created by the artist Karel O. Hájek. The stands in period photographs and texts show what the place looked like in the period of Lumpepark.
