Slovak national cultural monument Vígľaš Chateau, originally a royal castle from the 14th century in the Podpoliansky region, burned down in 1945. After that, it just fell into disrepair. However, during a generous reconstruction, it was transformed into a wellness hotel, which became the Building of the Year 2014 in an online public vote.
