Hrčava – Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes

Commemorative coins Coin no. 506

The village on the border of three countries – the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia is called Little Prague due to its clear and pro-Czech distinctiveness of previous generations. In the village there is a wooden church of St. Cyril and St. Methodius. On the feast of the missionaries, a large pilgrimage takes place in Hrčava every year. The village is located in the Silesian Beskydy Mountains and has a purely mountainous character. The road was brought to the village only in 1960. The neighboring Bukovec (accessible from Hrčava only on foot) is the easternmost village in the Czech Republic. Approximately one km from Hrčava there is an obelisk on Trojmezí, which marks the exact border of the three countries. There is a pub in Hrčava and, even with a very small population, a school, which was once visited by President Václav Havel. A trip to Hrčava is very inspiring. You can get to Hrčava by car if you turn left just before the Mosty u Jablunkova border crossing and drive through 10 km of serpentines, at the end of which Hrčava will smile at you.
