Maple Hill

Cable cars and peaks Coin no. 270
Javorový vrch is the highest peak of the mountain group above the Silesian lowland in the Olše basin, southwest of Třinec, formed of layered Godula sandstone. The name “Javororvý” is named after the maples that formed a substantial part of the slopes of the hill.
Javorový is the starting point of top hikes. Hiking trails lead to Oldřichovice, to Řeka, where sandstone quarries are used not only for the extraction of decorative Godula sandstone, but also as training climbing terrains. To the south, the signs continue to Šindelná (1000 m above sea level) and Ropice at an altitude of 1082 m above sea level. Dwarf pine and alpine flora grow here. There is a television relay station at Malý Javorové – 947 m above sea level.
The whole mountain group is a recreation center with a tourist cottage from 1895 and a cable car from Oldřichovice to an altitude of 890 m above sea level. Skiing opportunities in the Javorový vrch Ski Resort near Třinec. There is a Mountain Rescue Service station near the tourist cottage.
