La Rambla – the most famous street in Barcelona.
It is about 1.5 km long and stretches from the sea through the historic part of Barcelona to Placa de Catalunya. Thanks to the artists on La Rambla, you can bring original portraits, have fun with a dance performance or admire the creations of the most famous sculptors in the form of live sculptures.
You can buy a number of souvenirs here and don’t forget to visit the stylish restaurants and cafes that line almost the entire street. La Rambla is divided into five parts. The first is a fountain in the Rambla de Canaletes section. There is a superstition related to this fountain that whoever drinks from it will return to Barcelona every year. The second part of La Rambla is named after the university – Rambla dels Estudis, which was built here in the 16th century. The third and fourth parts of the street are named after the monastery – Rambla de Sant Josep and Rambla dels Caputxins. The fifth part of the street is the place where the art museum stands today – Rambla de Santa Monica, next to which stands the statue of Columbus.
