The new cable car to Sněžka was built in the period from 1.9.2011 to 19.12.2013. The first section to Růžová hora has been in operation since 20.12.2013, the section to Sněžka since 22.2.2014. The cable car runs along the original route, only the lower station in Pec pod Sněžkou is moved lower to the Lesovna cottage.
The construction of the cable car was carried out by the construction company BAK stavební společnost, a.s., Trutnov together with the technology supplier LEITNER A.G. (Italy).
The investor and owner is the Town of Pec pod Sněžkou.
