The funicular to Petřín began operation on 25 July 1891, its drive was on water superiority. Its operation ended in 1916 in connection with the First World War. The cable car was not restored until 1932, when it was also rebuilt to electric drive. It reliably served the public for over 30 years. In 1965, there were extensive landslides on Petřín, which destroyed the cable car track. The cable car to Petřín started again after a twenty-year break in 1985, when it was incorporated into the public transport system.
