Zvolen is a Slovak district town in the Banská Bystrica Region, 18 km south of Bánská Bystrica in the south of the Zvolen Basin at the confluence of the Hron and Slatina rivers. In 2017, over 42,600 inhabitants lived here, making Zvolen the 12th largest Slovak city.
