The exhibition of the T. G. Masaryk Museum in Lány presents the personality of the first Czechoslovak president, T. G. Masaryk and historical events associated with his person. The exhibition is divided into several parts.
The introductory part of the museum’s exhibition presents T. G. Masaryk and his family. In this part, it is possible to see various personal items belonging to individual family members. One of the rarest here is the formal dress of Charlotte Garrigue Masaryk. The exhibition continues with the professorial period of T. G. Masaryk and presents him as a professor at the time of the so-called “Manuscript Fights” and the “Hilsner Affair”. The last part of the exhibition is devoted to the period of the First World War, when Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk went abroad to actively participate in the building of our state. This period is presented mainly by uniforms and memorabilia of Czechoslovak legionnaires. The atmosphere of the war period is illustrated by the reconstruction of period trenches.
CMQC recommends:
Combine a visit to the museum with a tour of the nearby Lány Castle, the temporary summer residence of our presidents.
