Prague’s Villa Bertramka, where the world-famous composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart has stayed several times, has been open to the public again since the weekend. After several years of disputes, the villa was re-equipped by the Mozart community last December.
According to the secretary of the committee of the Mozart Community, Milada Jonášová, Bertramka is open daily from 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Visitors can see two exhibitions in the historic halls. The first of them, called Mozart’s The Gardener and Her Fates, was lent to the village by the National Theatre Opera. The exhibition was created in 2008 on the occasion of the first performance of the opera La finta giardiniera (The Gardener of Love) at the National Theatre and has so far been on display in the Mozart Lounge of the Estates Theatre. It presents the history of the creation and further fate of this operatic work, which Mozart composed at the age of 18.
The second exhibition was provided to the Mozart community by the German Johann Adolf Hasse Society. The author is the chairman of the Munich branch of this society, Klaus Müller. The exhibition maps the life and work of the composer Hasse, who is said to have been friends with Mozart. Together, they both participated in the 1771 opera carnival season in Milan.
