The history of hospitality in the house where the U Salzmannů restaurant and guesthouse are located began as early as the 17th century. Originally a touring inn, it was bought in the 19th century by a former foreman Martin Salzmann (yes, the one thanks to whom the famous Prague restaurant U Pinkasu was actually created, when he brought his friend, the Prague tailor Pinkas, a barrel of beer from the new Pilsen Burghers’ Brewery to taste, and the tailor liked it so much that he hung a needle and thread on a nail and opened a pub) and soon achieved great esteem and respect among Pilsen residents and out-of-town visitors.
The operation of the inn was interrupted for many years during the communist period, when there was no interest in repairing the neglected building. Fortunately, after 1989, common sense prevailed and after a long and demanding complete reconstruction, the business was reopened ten years ago. The sensitively reconstructed house and interior evoke the time of the beginning of the century, when the restaurant was a popular meeting place for Pilsen townspeople and their guests (Official text).
