Beer was brewed in Loket from the middle of the 14th century until 1953, the tradition was renewed in 2006. You will discover the new brewery in the Emperor Ferdinand Hotel, the brewhouse is located in the interior of the restaurant in the premises of the original malt house. The beer bears the name of the patron saint of firefighters, miners, chimney sweeps and brewers, St. Florian.
You can observe the production of beer directly from the restaurant with your own eyes; you can taste light, semi-dark and dark Florian 11° or 12°, bacon Florian 13° or semi-dark ruby special Florian 15°. You can also taste Golden or Silver Beer. While cleaning and clearing out the old malt house, workers discovered a stone tank several meters deep. It was partly carved into the rock and, according to the brewers, was probably used to soak barley, today it is covered by a glass plate. In addition to the cistern, you can also admire showcases with old beer bottles, jugs and the largest collection of spa cups in the Czech Republic in the interior of the brewery restaurant. The so-called koflíks, made for guests of the surrounding spa and intended for drinking water from healing springs, form a unique collection, the uniqueness of which has been confirmed by an entry in the Czech Book of Records. The two oldest specimens date back to 1780.
