The town of Senec is located in the southwest of Slovakia, in the Bratislava Region, 25 km east of Bratislava. The most precious historical monument on the central square of Senec is the Renaissance manor house Turkish House. It was built in the years 1556 – 60 by the Bratislava county governor Kryštof Baťán. Until 1757, it was used for meetings of the Bratislava County, then it served mainly for official purposes. The fortress character of the building is documented by arched loopholes and semicircular labels of the attic, which not only decorated the building, but also protected the defenders of the building. Records have been preserved that an underground corridor led from the Turkish House in the direction behind the buildings. The gables of the building protruding over the roof also had a protective function. The Turkish House experienced an attack by the Turks in 1663.
The Turkish House was abandoned for several years and very devastated. In 1994, an expensive reconstruction of this monument was completed at the expense of the city of Senec. A stylish restaurant is set up in the Turkish House.
