Wine bar at Queen Elisabeth

Restaurants and breweries Coin no. 089

A traditional Moravian wine bar with live music, located in the exclusive space of the monastery cellars, suitable for organizing banquets for up to 500 people. The complex also includes a weekend disco and a romantic garden. The cellars of the current wine bar U Královny Eliška were created and developed at the same time as the Cistercian monastery, which was founded in 1323 by the royal widow Eliška Rejčka. They served as monastery wine cellars and, among other things, many medieval and modern dinners and festivities were held here. After World War II, the premises served as warehouses. In 1964, the 1st stage of the reconstruction and adaptation of the interior of the cellar began. On September 10, 1965, the LSD Břeclav Union ceremonially opened the operation of the cellar wine bar. In 1976, the 2nd stage of the reconstruction of the wine bar was completed. In 1980, the premises in the second part of the monastery cellars were expanded and a disco began to operate here. After 1989, the wine bar building was privatized. In 2003, it was owned by a joint-stock company called U Královny Eliška, a.s. A rarity of the whole complex is an ancient wine press from 1711, which was made of Canadian cedar and which visitors can see in the wine bar broom. In the first half of 2006, the reconstruction of the premises of the original barn was carried out. A wine shop and private wine boxes with the possibility of renting were built here.
