Lookout Tower Růženka from Bohemian Switzerland

obec Růžová

Cable cars and peaks Coin no. 449

The Růženka lookout tower from Bohemian Switzerland was built in 2018. Růženka stands on Pastevní vrch, formerly called Hutberg, which rises above the village of Růžová to a height of 402 m above sea level. Its top was already a sought-after place with a beautiful circular view in the past. A windmill used to stand here, later a Hubertusbaude restaurant with an observation deck. However, the mill burned down in 1868 and the pub burned down on 6.2.1932. The foundations of the building are still visible here today.
At the top of Pastevní vrch there is a cross, which was originally wooden. In 1809, Johann Christoph Schubert of Růžová built a stone cross here. Every year, two supplication processions climbed to the cross. In the spring, the village set out to pray for good weather and a good harvest, and in the autumn, the inhabitants of Růžová came to thank for the harvest and protection of the village.
The hill was also used for observation by various troops, not only in times of war threat. Also after 1945, a military guard unit with a radar was stationed here. The soldiers left the hill in 1948.

Today, the Růžová Nature Trail leads through Pastevní vrch. We recommend walking the 10 km route to all tourists who like beautiful views, fresh air, colorful nature and long for knowledge. Around the nature trail you will find the First Republic fortresses and you will learn a lot of interesting information about the local flora, fauna and history. The trail continues through the forest to Kamenická Stráně, to Dolský mlýn and under Růžovský vrch back to Růžová to the Baroque Church of St. Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul.
