One of the largest and most beautiful settlements in the High Tatras. It is located 6 km east of Smokovec, at the foot of Lomnický štít. The nucleus of the settlement consisted of a state gamekeeper’s lodge and several private summer houses. Since the locality was located in the cadastre of Velká Lomnica, it was named Tatranská Lomnica.
Convenient access will be provided by long-distance bus stations, railway stations and the nearby Poprad-Tatry International Airport. The Poprad-East motorway junction is only 10 km away.
The centre is represented by a railway station, in the vicinity of which you will find restaurants, sports shops and information offices. In the eastern part, you can visit the Tatra National Park Museum, the Botanical Garden or the bobsleigh track.
The ski resort can be found in the northern part. The cable car will take you all year round to Skalnaté pleso (1751 m), where you can continue along the Tatra Highway over the peak of Velká Svišťovka (2037 m) to the cottage at Zelené pleso or to Hrebienok (1284 m). Of course, the cable car can take you all the way to Lomnický štít. The Great Lomnická Tower (220 m) is a few minutes away from Lomnické sedlo (2189 m), which can be reached by chairlift.
