The chateau is located in the town of Rosice, only 25 km west of Brno. It stands on the site of a former castle, the remains of which have been preserved inside the chateau body. This manor house was inhabited, built, rebuilt and lived in by the Hecht families of Rosice, Žerotín, Werdenberg, Hausperský of Fanal, Ugarte, Sin, among others. The last aristocratic owner, Baron Mořic Arnold Deforest, was from the Deforest-Bischofsheim family.
